Geology Crafts For Kids: 50 Nifty Projects to Explore the Marvels of Planet Earth
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publishing (June, 1998)
Authors: Alan Anderson, Gwen Diehn, and Terry Krautwurst
Average review score:

Geology for Kids a Winner!
I used this book with a 7th grade class of "reluctant learners" and was completely delighted by their enthusiasm. All of the projects we tried (about 3/4 of those offered) were successful. As I was operating on a low budget, I appreciated being able to use the easily found materials and ingredients listed in the procedures. The Faux Marble project results were especially astounding. Get this book and enjoy!

Great Geology Book for kids

A Gift for Eternity
Published in Hardcover by MEAD Publishing and Productions (01 April, 1998)
Author: Shirle Anderson
Average review score:

Thought Provoking
A Gift for Eternity gave me a new way to look at life. I was never part of an organized religion. I often wondered why we are here, what we are doing, and where we are going, if anywhere. A Gift for Eternity opened the doors I needed to answer these questions for myself. As the introduction states, "This book does not tell you how to think, but gives you something to think about."

I wasn't told anything I didn't already know in my heart
In reading a Gift for Etenrity, it seemed as though what I already knew was being put into words. I always believed there was more to this life than just accumulating wealth. I couldn't express what I knew to be true in words. Ms. Anderson wrote what I knew already. As I read the book, it brought forth feelings and emotions that said, this is true. I now have the words to express what I have always felt. There is more to life than just getting up in the morning and going to work. There is a purpose to what we do on a daily basis. And, there is a reason we go through the tough times. I can now take my life head on, knowing there is a reason for everything I do and there is a purpose for everyone in my life.

A great uplifting romance
One of the best romances I have ever read! Mirabelle Saintly and Gus her helper are wonderful characters. Ms. Anderson has a lively writing style that makes you want to keep turning the page. Not only does she imbue romance but she integrates them beautifully with little lessons for you to take to heart and help become a better person.

Absolutely enchanting.

Fairy tale magic
Glass-Slipper-dot.com is a delightful retelling of the classic Cinderella story. Ms. Anderson's characters became like friends and their dilemmas tugged at my heart. By the end, I wished for my own personal fairy godmother. This is a special story with an uplifting message to share.

God Loves, Man Kills (Marvel Graphic Novel no. 5)
Published in Paperback by Marvel Books (September, 1994)
Authors: Chris Claremont, Brent Eric Anderson, and Christopher Claremont
Average review score:

What a great X-Men adventure
This was one of the best X-Men stories, Claremont, shows that he just may be a mutant himself with his insight into the mutant phenomenon. This story may also be the basis for the sequel to the X-Men movie, if internet rumors can be trusted. If so, I can't wait to see the movie.

Excellent example of Claremont's grasp of drama and action
God loves, Man Kills sums up many of Chris Claremont's ongoing concerns from his more than a decade long stint on Marvel's X-Men series of comic-books. Using as the central point, the character of Magneto- a tortured , complex individual who suffered through the Nazi Holocaust and later became a bitter self-appointed aggressive advocate for superhuman 'mutants' like himself, this story explores the horrors of rascism and the difficulty that people have in trying to change their behaviour and outlook. In this story, powerfully and sensitively written by Claremont and expressively illustrated by the veteran artist Brent Anderson, the rage of Magneto at the sheer hatred behind racist groups and the hypocrisy of the far right religious groups is compelling. This graphic novel gave Claremont the chance to expand his usual monthly storylines into a feature length tale- aimed more at an older readership than the usual target audience and worked wonderfully as a strong, vital a! ! nd affecting story. If you haven't read comics since you were young- start with this.

God's Arm
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Morning Star Press (01 September, 1998)
Author: William Anderson
Average review score:

Captivating and Excellent
I found God's Arm to be a refreshing perspective on the life of Jesus and the circumstances and environment which helped to shape the scriptures of the New Testament. He describes the life of Jesus as a man by illustrating the Roman point of view as well as relating the social pressures of the Pharisees, Sadducees, as well as the role of the Sanhedrin. He also is able to describe the emotions that Jesus might have felt as a man and how he learned what his role might be in his life on earth. William Anderson does a superb job from a historical perspective with only a few historical errors.

The book is well written and maintains intense interest from beginning to end and I highly recommend it to anyone who might be interested in the circumstances of Jesus's life or anyone who wants to be entertained with a captivating story.

Gives you a feel the challenges Christ faced
Wonderful! GOD'S ARM made the life of Christ come alive with customs, history, and feelings Jesus may have faced as he started his ministry. My understanding and Bible knowledge jumped by leaps and bounds in reading this book!

Golf Magazine's Complete Book of Golf Instruction
Published in Hardcover by Harry N Abrams (October, 1997)
Authors: James A. Frank, John Andrisani, Lorin Anderson, Golf Magazine, and George Peper
Average review score:

Definitely one of the better ones of its type
There are a bazillion golf instruction books, including several that are very similar to this one in format and scope, but as a certified glutton for everything that comes down the pike I can say without reservation that this is one of the better ones. The writing is clear, the illustrations are excellent and the topics are well-organized and fleshed out. Golf Magazine itself has improved greatly over the last decade, and this is a first-class product -- not something that has been quickly pieced together from previously published articles. It's genuinely educational in the sense that it discusses alternative approaches and doesn't simply try to get you to Swing Like Tiger or Swing Like Ernie. It strikes me as very reasonably priced for the depth of the material and the quality of the book itself. If I had to pick a target audience, I'd say it would be ideal for the 80 to 100 shooter. It may be a bit much for a raw beginner and perhaps a bit basic for someone who considers The Golfing Machine to be light reading, but for everyone else it should be a very worthwhile addition to your library.

The premier golf instruction manual!
Wow! What an outstanding instruction book. Every element of the game is presented here, from the one handed putting stroke of Mike Hulbert to the funky swing of Lee Trevino. "Since no two golfers are exactly alike in size, athletic, ability or temperament, what works for player A almost certainly will not work for player B." This book will definitely give you all the "golf theories" out there without over emphasizing any one over the other. What I found special about this book was it's ability to show the "prevailing wisdom" as well as a host of alternative methods and different strokes throughout each chapter. I truly enjoy this book and would recommend it to golf enthusiasts. BUY THIS BOOK!!!

The Great American Bathroom Book: Volumes I, Ii, & III: For Windows and MacIntosh

The Ultimate Time-Waster
No matter how many graduate degrees you have, the sheer volume of knowledge contained in these book summaries is astonishing. What's more, the information in this program is excerpted under license and sold elsewhere for much more money. This is the coolest program I have ever bought. If you want to spend 10 minutes reviewing the plotline from Antigone, Great Expectations, etc. this is the program for you. If you need cliff's notes on any work of literature, this is the program. If you need nice short summaries of philosophy (all sorts) and religion (all sorts) - this is the program for you.

Factually, the information is first-rate. The breadth of the humanities covered in this program is such that, if one were trapped on a desert island for three years - you could just read this stuff.

Now for the REALLY cool part - the program is less than 12 megs total and not copy-protected. Do not make illegal copies, that would be wrong. However, the simplicity of the program ensures that it is ABSOLUTELY compatible with any windows machine.

If I only had access to one small program in the world - it would be this one.

If you actually read all the information here, you will obtain the equivalent of a Humanities degree. If you RETAIN all that information you will be undefeatable in any trivia contest.

Buy this program, make it a gift, tell your friends!

Great book to bring on long trips or the bathroom
It is a great book for those who do not have the time but have the inclination to read great books. It is the first time I have been able to understand classic tales without having to take a one month vacation. I can proudly say every week I have read 6 great books this week!

Handel: Who Knew What He Liked
Published in Hardcover by Candlewick Press (October, 2001)
Author: M. T. Anderson
Average review score:

Fresh, Spirited...A Delight to Read.....
On the opening page of M.T. Anderson's and Kevin Hawkes' new picture book biography is a portrait of Handel with a bit of commentary attached. "This is George Frideric Handel. He looks very satisfied with things. He's smiling a little, as if he's very sure of himself. You'd have to be sure of youself to wear a wig that gigantic." And that, in a nutshell, describes this world famous composer. Handel was a man who knew what he wanted. Even as a child he was headstrong and decisive. He knew what he liked, he didn't care what others thought, and he made it happen. He was a man of force and spirit who controlled his own destiny, and in doing so became one of the most beloved and respected composers in the world; a man who's music has lived on for centuries..... M.T. Anderson's witty and irreverent text is full of history, marvelous anecdotes of some famous and not so famous events, fun facts, and trivia, and enhanced by Kevin Hawkes lush and expressive artwork. Young and old alike will relish the drama, humor, and brilliant detail in each picture With sidebars within the text explaining musical terminology, and a timeline of Handel's life, and lists of recordings and other biographies at the end, Handel: Who Knew What He Liked, is a joyous, fun-filled masterpiece that is sure to whet the appetites of youngsters 8-12. One of the best new books of 2001, this is definitely a biography that shouldn't be missed!

Great Non-Fiction
This is a biography that is fun enough to use as a read aloud. According to Anderson, Handel was quite a character, sneeking things behind his father's back and dueling with his best friend. The funny personal anectdotes spice up the great historical information on each page. The illustrations give a good sence of Handel's personality, and of the period. I especially liked the rococo frames and end pages. Anderson has included a time line, list of recordings, and further reading at the end of the book. Grades K-3.

Heaven's Face Thinly Veiled: A Book of Spiritual Writing by Women
Published in Paperback by Shambhala Publications (April, 1998)
Author: Sarah Anderson
Average review score:

"I'll sail the hidden seas within."
The introduction quotes Margaret Prescott Montague. "If the world be shut without, I'll sail the hidden seas within." Editor Sarah Anderson has collected a wide range of women's spiritual writing which have a satisfying taste of truth. Perhaps the amazing thing is that there is such a variety of writings of women's thoughts preserved for us. Louisa May Alcott's words are from a letter to a friend . She says, in part, "Women need a religion of their own, for they are called upon to lead a quiet self sacrificing life with peculiar trials, needs & joys, & it seems to me that a very simple one is fitted to us whose hearts are usually more alive than heads, & whose hands are tied in many ways." Like so many of the women quoted in this volume, she marched to her own drummer, and did not permit the patriarchal church to define her beliefs. Denise Levertov's poem remarking that each summer is the last summer, each day the last day, and each minute the last minute epitomizes the attitudes of awareness in these pieces. While shifting my attention to ponder what caught the authors' notice, my spiritual awareness has been enriched.

beautiful writing, deep thoughts
This is an anthology, and I just dip into it wherever and read - some of the greatest women writers of all times and places are represented here, often by the concentrated kernel of their artistic expression on spiritual topics. It never fails to inspire me, uplift me or simply melt me in sheer beauty. Not to mention gaining insights and increased awareness. This book is a keeper.
